Defying our negative feelings

I feel...

A feeling can be defined as an emotional state of mind that leads to a reaction, an idea or belief, especially a vague or irrational one, an expression of emotion or sensitivity.

Just because you may feel (a process that begins in the mind) a certain way, does not mean that the way you feel is the truth or reality.
Pick at your feelings know when the way you feel is out of alignment with what God says in his word. Declare the word of God out loud, "Lord I may not feel that you are with me but I know that you are, because your word says you will never leave me or forsake me".

The enemy has a way of using how we feel to defy us, trick us into reacting to our situations, with doubt and negativity.

Think about this for a moment: You may feel depressed, but are you?... You may feel that you aren't worthy of Gods love or Grace, but is this how God feels about you?...
What negative thoughts are you struggling with, are they true?

Forgiveness

Forgiveness - Not a choice but an obligation !

What is unforgiveness

Unforgiveness can be defined as a Grudge Against Someone Who Has Offended You.

Romans 5:8: “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (NLT).
What gives us the authority to hold grudges and harbor unforgiveness in our lives ? We do not have that authority as Christians. If Christ, whom we are imitators of loved us as sinners, we too are obligated to love those that has wronged and sinned against us. Matthew in chapter 5 and verse 44 commissions us to love our enemies! and  Pray for those who persecute us. This simply tells us that no matter how much we are hurt by those around us we should forgive , love and prayer for them regardless.
In Colossians 3:12-13  (ESV) we are charged to be kind and compassionate and again forgiving towards our fellow men.
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”

Ask

Are we sitting around hoping that our situation gets better and not asking God to intervene?

Gods word says that " you do not have because you do not ask... (James 4:3)".

What does this mean... to ask is to petition or inquire about something anything that is close to our heart, making a demand of God on what is already ours. In asking we are also required to trust God as he is the one who supplies our needs.

As a child growing up and even as a teenager I thought that I can only ask God for stuff that pertains to his will for me. So when I pray, I would ask God for health, strength and to take me safely through the day - stuff that is mentioned explicitly in his word. Don't get me wrong this is also what we can ask for; but I am also here to say that God wants to grant the desires of our heart. We go about wishing that our situations will change that our lives will go according to Gods will, but know that we can talk to God about anything and everything that concerns us. If what we ask for is not right for us then we wont get it.

Don't be reluctant to ask God for what you want Read More..

Overcoming Mind Tactics

The Mind

The mind is a powerful instrument, we use it consciously and unconsciously. Our mind can be the main organ that causes us to be happy or unhappy.
As individuals who has experienced worry, strife, pain and neglect we often replay those moments in our mind. The word of God says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. In my moment of neglect and rejection I have stumbled upon this scripture. “It’s amazing how God speaks to us through his word in the right season”. I was able to stand on this principle and declare that I have a sound mind because God says it in his word.

To overcome mind tactics I urge you to study the following points, let it change your life as it continues to change mine.

What am I thinking, Is this the truth?

If we focus on the negative things in our lives we become negative. Everything including our conversation become negative. Whatever we put our mind, Read more...
